Top 11 Things to do in Emerald Isle

Emerald Isle is a small piece of paradise that locals and visitors cannot get enough of year-round. The quiet town starts to come alive in the summer with friends and families from all walks of life. Whether this is a tradition for years or your first time here, there is always something new to try. Of course, this piece of paradise is known for its beaches and emerald green water, but there is so much more to do.

Recreational:

The Point:  The point is where the sound meets the sea. At the end of the island is our little peninsula with a 180-degree view of the water. The sand and dunes seem to travel for miles, and there is an endless amount of exploring that can be done morning or night. The view from the top of the stairs is simply breathtaking. The point is known for its beautiful view of the sunsets, especially in the fall.

Emerald Isle Woods: To get away from the beating sun and into the wilderness, the Emerald Isle Woods is the perfect place for a short hike or walk with the dogs. There are numerous trails to explore and a pet-friendly place. The woods also offer a frisbee golf course spanning the trails. You can pack a lunch and use the grills in the picnic area or even paddleboard or kayak off the public docks.

Bike path: The bike path is a smooth and shaded path to bike, walk/ run, skateboard, or even rollerblade. The bike path travels from the point through Emerald Isle towards Atlantic Beach. There are stops and restaurants along the route if you want to take a break.

Pier: The Boque Inlet Fishing Pier is a great place to get a fantastic view of the ocean. During the day and night, you can count on people fishing off of the pier. On a day with good swell, you can sit and watch the south swell surf team members catching the waves.

Shopping:

South Swell: Our surf shop features high-end surf and skate brands and local brands such as our own. In addition, we offer an array of surfboards, both short and long. Not only do we specialize in clothing, but customers can also rent surfboards and surf lessons are available during the summer for locals and visitors.

The Reel Outdoors: The Reel outdoors offers thousands of fishing gear and supplies for a day on the water. There is a rod or bait perfect for any in-shore or off-shore occasion. Along with supplies, The Reel Outdoors offers clothing, hats, and shoes for fishing or non fishing wear.

Food and Drink:

Fish Hut: Fish Hut Grill is known for the line streaming out into the street. Do not let the line intimidate you because their servers will bring you ice-cold drinks as you wait for a seat. Their alcoholic beverages are the best on the island, and when you are there, make sure you order the whole fish. This is where locals and visitors can congregate and become a family by the end of the night.

Gaffers: This place is always booming, with live music almost every weekend. Their patio is comfortable and shaded, and their staff is warm and welcoming. Gaffers have nightly specials and a large indoor and outdoor bar. One of the fantastic things about this restaurant is that it is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Growler: The Growler offers a wide array of locally crafted beers. Located right on the bike trail, you can stop and grab a cold one with indoor and outdoor seating. On Monday nights, they also have a run club where you can run or walk with a great group of people. Check them out online to see when they are playing live music or having events!

CaribSea: Caribsea is upscale dining on the island with a rooftop deck where you can see the sunset after the perfect day on the island. Their signature cocktails, local seafood, and beautiful view make it a must-see location on the island. The rooftop also features live music, which is a great way to relax during a night out.

The Village Market: The Village Market has the best breakfast on the island. You can stay and eat or get it to go and eat your breakfast or lunch on the beach. You know they are ready to serve breakfast when the red umbrellas go up in the morning. The Village Market is connected to Reel Outdoors, so go ahead and go shopping before or after you eat.
